   [kjv] In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
   [bbe] At that time, when thousands of the people had come together, in such numbers that they were crushing one another, he said first to his disciples, Have nothing to do with the leaven of the Pharisees, which is deceit.

   [kjv] For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
   [bbe] But nothing is covered up, which will not come to light, or secret, which will not be made clear.

   [kjv] Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
   [bbe] So, whatever you have said in the dark, will come to men's hearing in the light, and what you have said secretly inside the house, will be made public from the house-tops.

   [kjv] And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
   [bbe] And I say to you, my friends, Have no fear of those who may put the body to death, and are able to do no more than that.

   [kjv] But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
   [bbe] But I will make clear to you of whom you are to be in fear: of him who after death has power to send you to hell; yes, truly I say, Have fear of him.

   [kjv] Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
   [bbe] Are not five sparrows given in exchange for two farthings? and God has every one of them in mind.

   [kjv] But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
   [bbe] But even the hairs of your head are numbered. Have no fear: you are of more value than a flock of sparrows.

   [kjv] Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
   [bbe] And I say to you that to everyone who gives witness to me before men, the Son of man will give witness before the angels of God.

   [bbe] But if anyone says before men that he has no knowledge of me, I will say that I have no knowledge of him before the angels of God.

   [kjv] And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
   [bbe] And if anyone says a word against the Son of man, he will have forgiveness: but for him who says evil words against the Holy Spirit, there will be no forgiveness.

   [kjv] And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
   [bbe] And when they take you before the Synagogues and the authorities and the rulers, take no thought about what answers you will give, or what you will say:

   [bbe] And one of the people said to him, Master, give an order to my brother to make division of the heritage with me.

   [bbe] But he said, Man, who made me a judge or a maker of decisions for you?

   [kjv] And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
   [bbe] And he said to them, Take care to keep yourselves free from the desire for property; for a man's life is not made up of the number of things which he has.

   [kjv] And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
   [bbe] And he said to them, in a story, The land of a certain man of great wealth was very fertile:

   [bbe] And he said to himself, What is to be done? for I have no place in which to put all my fruit.

   [kjv] And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
   [bbe] And he said, This I will do: I will take down my store-houses and make greater ones, and there I will put all my grain and my goods.

   [kjv] And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
   [bbe] And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have a great amount of goods in store, enough for a number of years; be at rest, take food and wine and be happy.

   [kjv] But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
   [bbe] But God said to him, You foolish one, tonight I will take your soul from you, and who then will be the owner of all the things which you have got together?

   [kjv] So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
   [bbe] So that is what comes to the man who gets wealth for himself, and has not wealth in the eyes of God.

   [kjv] And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
   [bbe] And he said to his disciples, For this reason I say to you, Take no thought for your life, about what food you will take, or for your body, how it may be clothed.

   [kjv] The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
   [bbe] Is not life more than food, and the body than its clothing?

   [kjv] Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
   [bbe] Give thought to the ravens; they do not put seeds into the earth, or get together grain; they have no store-houses or buildings; and God gives them their food: of how much greater value are you than the birds!

   [kjv] And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
   [bbe] And which of you by taking thought is able to make himself any taller?

   [kjv] If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
   [bbe] If, then, you are not able to do even that which is least, why are you troubled about the rest?

   [kjv] Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
   [bbe] Give thought to the flowers: they do no work, they make no thread; and still I say to you, Even Solomon, in all his glory, was not clothed like one of these.

   [kjv] If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
   [bbe] But if God gives such clothing to the grass in the field, which today is living, and tomorrow will be burned in the oven, how much more will he give clothing to you, O men of little faith?

   [kjv] And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
   [bbe] And do not give overmuch thought to your food and drink, and let not your mind be full of doubts.

   [kjv] For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
   [bbe] For the nations of the world go in search of all these things: but your Father has knowledge that you have need of them.

   [kjv] But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
   [bbe] But let your chief care be for his kingdom, and these other things will be given to you in addition.

   [bbe] Have no fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

   [kjv] Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
   [bbe] Give what property you have in exchange for money, and give the money to the poor; make for yourselves money-bags which will not get old, wealth stored up in heaven which will be yours for ever, where thieves will not come nor worms put it to destruction.

   [kjv] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
   [bbe] For where your wealth is, there will your heart be.

   [kjv] Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
   [bbe] Be ready, dressed as for a journey, with your lights burning.

   [kjv] And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
   [bbe] And be like men who are looking for their lord, when he comes back from the bride-feast; so that when he comes to the door, it will be open to him quickly.

   [kjv] Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
   [bbe] Happy are those servants who are watching when the lord comes; truly I say to you, he will make himself their servant and, placing them at the table, he will come out and give them food.

   [kjv] And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
   [bbe] And if he comes in the second division of the night or in the third, and they are watching for him, happy are those servants.

   [kjv] And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
   [bbe] But be certain of this, that if the master of the house had had knowledge of the time when the thief was coming, he would have been watching, and would not have let his house be broken into.

   [kjv] Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
   [bbe] So be ready: for the Son of man is coming at a time when you are not looking for him.

   [bbe] And Peter said to him, Lord, are these words said to us only, or to all men?

   [bbe] And the Lord said, Who then is the wise and responsible servant whom his lord will put in control of his family, to give them their food at the right time?

   [kjv] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
   [bbe] Happy is that servant who, when his lord comes, is doing so.

   [kjv] But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
   [bbe] But if that servant says to himself, My lord is a long time coming; and goes about giving blows to the men-servants and the women-servants, feasting and taking overmuch wine;
12:46[hb5] ¦b ¥L ·Q ¤£ ¨ì ªº ¤é ¤l ¡B ¤£ ª¾ ¹D ªº ®É ¨° ¡B ¨º ¹² ¤H ªº ¥D ¤H ­n ¨Ó ¡B ­« ­« ªº ³B ªv ¥L ¡B ¡e ©Î §@ §â ¥L ¸y ±Ù ¤F ¡f ©w ¥L ©M ¤£ ©¾ ¤ß ªº ¤H ¦P ¸o ¡C
   [kjv] The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
   [bbe] The lord of that servant will come at a time when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not ready for him, and he will have him cut in two and will give him his part in the fate of those who have no faith;
12:47[hb5] ¹² ¤H ª¾ ¹D ¥D ¤H ªº ·N «ä ¡B «o ¤£ ¹w ³Æ ¡B ¤S ¤£ ¶¶ ¥L ªº ·N «ä ¦æ ¡B ¨º ¹² ¤H ¥² ¦h ¨ü ³d ¥´ ¡D
   [kjv] And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
   [bbe] And the servant who had knowledge of his lord's desires and was not ready for him and did not do as he was ordered, will be given a great number of blows;
12:48[hb5] ±© ¦³ ¨º ¤£ ª¾ ¹D ªº ¡B §@ ¤F ·í ¨ü ³d ¥´ ªº ¨Æ ¡B ¥² ¤Ö ¨ü ³d ¥´ ¡D ¦] ¬° ¦h µ¹ ½Ö ¡B ´N ¦V ½Ö ¦h ¨ú ¡D ¦h °U ½Ö ¡B ´N ¦V ½Ö ¦h ­n ¡C
   [kjv] But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
   [bbe] But he who, without knowledge, did things for which punishment is given, will get only a small number of blows. The man to whom much is given, will have to give much; if much is given into his care, of him more will be requested.

   [kjv] I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
   [bbe] I came to send a fire on the earth, and it may even now have been lighted.
12:50[hb5] §Ú ¦³ ·í ¨ü ªº ¬~ ¡D ÁÙ ¨S ¦³ ¦¨ ´N ¡B §Ú ¬O ¦ó µ¥ ªº ­¢ ¤Á ©O ¡C
   [kjv] But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
   [bbe] But there is a baptism which I have to undergo; and how am I kept back till it is complete!

   [kjv] Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
   [bbe] Is it your opinion that I have come to give peace on earth? I say to you, No, but division:

   [kjv] For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
   [bbe] For from this time, a family of five in one house will be on opposite sides, three against two and two against three.

   [kjv] The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
   [bbe] They will be at war, the father against his son, and the son against his father; mother against daughter, and daughter against mother; mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.

   [kjv] And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
   [bbe] Then he said to the people, When you see a cloud coming up in the west, straight away you say, There will be rain; and so it is.
12:55[hb5] °_ ¤F «n ­· ¡B ´N »¡ ¡B ±N ­n Àê ¼ö ¡D ¤] ´N ¦³ ¤F ¡C
   [kjv] And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
   [bbe] And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, There will be heat; and so it is.
12:56[hb5] °² «_ ¬° µ½ ªº ¤H ­þ ¡B §A ­Ì ª¾ ¹D ¤À ¿ë ¤Ñ ¦a ªº ®ð ¦â ¡D «ç »ò ¤£ ª¾ ¹D ¤À ¿ë ³o ®É ­Ô ©O ¡D
   [kjv] Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
   [bbe] O false ones! the face of the earth and the heaven is clear to you; how is it that the signs of these times are not as clear to you?

   [kjv] Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
   [bbe] And why are you, in your hearts, unable to be judges of what is right?

   [kjv] When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
   [bbe] For if anyone has a cause at law against you, and you are going with him before the ruler, make an attempt, on the way, to come to an agreement with him, for if you do not, he may take you before the judge and the judge will give you up to the police, and they will put you in prison.

   [kjv] I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
   [bbe] I say to you, You will not come out of it till you have made payment to the very last farthing.
